P0480 - Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit Malfunction

The Technical Definition: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects an incorrect voltage signal from the cooling fan control circuit.

Common Symptoms: The Jeep starts running hot or overheating in stop-and-go traffic, the check engine light illuminates, and the electric cooling fan fails to engage.

Typical Fix: This usually points to a burned-out cooling fan relay, damaged wiring, or a dead fan motor. Replacing the relay is the easiest and cheapest first step before replacing the entire fan shroud assembly.
